Chicago Force Dominate Predators

Chicago IL. Public Address Announcer, Alvin Washington barked out a familiar phrase to the sun drenched home fans Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium "Touchdown Chicago Force". The ladies of the gridiron put together four good quarters of football to post a 36-8 victory against a game but overmatched Detroit Predators to run their record to 4-1.

The Force was able to attack on the ground and in the air racking up 320 yards on the day. Offensive MVP of the game RB Sally Beaumont (7-79-2td) put Chicago on the scoreboard first with a three yard burst through the middle at 2:02 of the opening quarter. Beaumont’s second touchdown of the first half was set up by a nice 39yard pass completion from Angie Bandstra (9-17-147-1td) to WR Bridget Manabat that brought the ball to the Detroit 20 yard line. One play later Beaumont danced in from 20 yards to put the Force up for good 14-0.

The highlight of the third quarter featured WR Abby Riewe returning a punt 89 yards, a new Force franchise record. "My teammates did a nice job blocking downfield for me" explained Riewe. It’s exciting to know that I set a record and also helped the team win". Defensive MVP of the game Becky "Punk" Thuestad continued to show why she is one of the more versatile players in the league. Not only did Thuestad record 9 tackles, she scored a touchdown on a 2 yard pass from Bandstra, and converted 2 two point conversions.

Contributions came from up and down the roster as every player saw action. There were several first time personal achievements for three rookies’ Bridget Fahrner scored on a 5 yard run. Feisty RB Tamera Hunter shot through for a 4 yard touchdown. DL Erica Bell Coleman checked in at fullback, with visions of William Refrigerator Perry, and dove over the goal line for a two point conversion. Others who helped the cause include; DB’s Marie Kluss, Michelle Mendiola, Mandy Linkinhoker.DL Tracy Johnson, Rheda King, Amanda Malsch. LB Maggie Murphy, and QB Andrea Andrews. "I’m glad to see that our second unit made the most of their opportunities," said head coach Jim Stahl. "Everyone did a good job today". The Force travel to Detroit for a rematch with the Demolition on June 10.
