Chicago Force Win on the Road

DETROIT, MI. The Chicago Force traveled to Livonia MI. just outside Detroit and dominated play enroute to a 30-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Predators, at Claude Snarey Stadium, Saturday, May 6, to run their record to 2-0.

The first road game scoring came early on the Force opening offensive possession, when QB Angie Bandstra (10-21, 165yds, 2tds) found WR Abby Riewe for a 70 yard td. In the second quarter, Bandstra hooked up with WR, Tashaunda Shumpert for a 15 td reception. The Force closed out the first half with an impressive rushing td by RB, Tricia Charbonneau to go up 22-0. Charbonneau showed her versatility, rushing 8 times for 51 yards.

Other standout performances on offense included RB's Melissa Smith (17rushes 52yards) and Teresa Sochacki who had a nifty 45yard run. RB/MLB Becky Thuestad tallied the final scoring drive with a 16 yard scamper, and also caught the two point conversion. Outstanding line play by Ericka Bell-Coleman, Michele Maeder, Laura Parzygnat and Cynde Hafer enabled the offense to run at will against an overmatched Predator defense.

The Force defense continues to dominate having allowed just 8 points in two games. A major reason for the success is lineman Keesha Brooks, Amanda Malsch and Kyle Tryba. Hard hitting linebackers Pam Schaffrath, Thuestad, and Kim Duffey. The defensive highlight of the game came when DB Jennifer Dulski came around the corner to make a textbook block of a Predator punt attempt that gave the Force a first down on the Detroit 5 yard line. "We wanted to take control early in order to let everyone that works hard in practice all week to get a chance to play and contribute," said head coach Jim Stahl. "This was a total team win." The Force host the Detroit Demolition Saturday, May 13, at Lane Stadium. Kickoff is 3pm.
