Force Outscore Pittsburgh 48-33

CHICAGO, IL: The Force (7-1) finished the regular season with a solid win over the dangerous Pittsburgh Passion (6-2) to maintain the #2 seed in the eastern conference heading into next week’s playoffs.

Chicago’s offensive line was again dominant, opening nice running lanes throughout the game and earning the O line group the Offensive Game Day MVP award. The primary beneficiary was quarterback Rasan Gore who had 196 rushing yards and 3 TD’s. Gore also threw for 3 TD’s, all to receiver Jeanette Gray. The other Force touchdown came from running back Zoe Barnett who had 93 yards on 18 carries.

The offenses for both teams were able to consistently move the ball but Chicago was more efficient, scoring on six of seven possessions. However, Chicago’s secondary struggled throughout in pass coverage, giving up 285 yards to Pitt’s aerial attack. This allowed Pittsburgh to keep the chains moving for long drives, while Chicago’s explosive offense stood on the sideline for extended periods. It is an area of concern for the Force with the playoffs looming.

Head Coach John Konecki was disappointed in his team’s lack of focus and aggressive play. “Although we played well enough to win, we had numerous errors in all phases of the game and we will be closely scrutinizing everyone's effort in film review. The Chicago Force is an organization that has always prided itself on getting better week in and week out and we will continue to strive for improvement.”

One of the few bright spots for the Force defense was Defensive Game Day MVP Darcy Leslie who led the team with 10 tackles and a sack. Linebacker Carolyn Lee also had a strong game with 8 tackles.

The Force have a bye for the first round of playoffs and will then host the winner of the Boston/Cleveland game on Saturday June 25th at Lane Tech High School. Kickoff is TBD.
