CHICAGO, IL The Chicago Force have secured home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs after a 57-0 win over the St. Louis Slam.

Once again Chicagoīs defense proves that they are ready for a tight and competitive playoff field. They kept the Slam to just over 50 yards of total offense on the day and imposed their will on a toothless St. Louis attack.

Pressure frequently came from the outside with Chicagoīs ends having a field day with the Slamīs quarterback and her offense line. Angel Smith had 5 solo tackles, assisted on 3 and had 2 sacks. She was selected Defensive game day MVP.

Equally impressive is the production of Norwegian import Sonja Drangsholt. Drangsholt was all over the place and seemingly had a hand on every play the Slam tried to execute. Her outside speed got her to the quarterback on numerous occasions, while she also read the Slamīs offense perfectly and inflicted mayhem in the backfield. She finished the day with 7 solo tackles, 4 assists and a sack.

The Force offense was its usual self with a strong rushing attack and a solid passing day for Force quarterback Rachel Gore. Gore finished with 259 passing yards and a touchdown. She also rushed for 98 yards on 4 attempts and finished with 2 touchdowns. Her favorite receiving target was running back Cassey Brick, who frequently beat the St. Louis defense with quick outside passes. She finished with 123 yards on 8 receptions, while also rushing for 2 touchdowns in goal line situations.

Running back Brandy Hatcher had a great day on the ground rushing for 156 on 13 attempts. Leading the way was her offensive line, led by center Catherine Converse that gave the Slamīs defensive line no chance. The offensive line - consisting of Dawn Pederson, Jamie Menzyk, Roz Bennett, Tami Engelman, Leann Bluske, Anne Witt and Converse - was also named offensive MVP of the game.

Chicago finished the season on top of the Great Lakes Division with a 7-1 record. They will now face the Cleveland Fusion on June 27th for the first round of the playoffs at Lane Tech Stadium. Kickoff time is 6pm. This will be the final home game of the season for the Force.

A win would propel the Force to a likely second round match-up on the road with perennial nemesis Boston Renegades. The DC Divas are the top seeded team in the conference and would the likely 3rd round opponent.
