Chicago, IL.The Force played a near flawless game at Lazier Field in Evanston, under a sun lit sky, dismantling the Indy Crash 71-0, to run the unbeaten streak to 7-0. The defense was relentless posting the fourth shutout of the season, led by defensive game day MVP, Martha Dantuma, who had an interception, and ran down the Crash quarterback, forcing a fumble that turned into a 40 yard touchdown run by Arteria Ziegler. Dantuma credits her recent success to extra work with the coaching staff. “The coaches have been working on some extra drills and tackling technique,” she explained. “My experience as a receiver has also helped me locate the ball and I was able to pick one off today.” Linebacker Darcy Leslie, talented enough to reap MVP honors every game, added three picks.

The winning touchdown came on the Force first offensive possession after an Indy punt netted no yards at the Indy 43 yard line. An accurate throw by steady quarterback Sami Grisafe to Brandi Srda spotted the ball at the 12 yard line. Brandy Hatcher took a Grisafe pitch and ran around the left side to the two. Melissa Smith followed her block by Tami Engelman into the end zone. Smith added the two point conversion her first of six on the day. Smith had four scores, Carolyn Lee, who continues to show good hands, had a catch and a 65 yard scamper. Hatcher found pay dirt twice, and Jeanette Gray had an impressive one handed catch in the end zone. All told the Force tallied 64 points in the first half. “The defender was right on me and I tried to get some space, stuck my hand out and I got it,” said Gray. “It was fun”. The offensive line made things easy for Grisafe, named offensive game day MVP, who appreciated the protection. “This group of veterans is special,” she said. “It feels good that my teammates have confidence in me to add to our success. I want my leadership on the field to rub off on everyone.”

The Force appears to be strong candidates to finish the regular season undefeated for the second year in a row. They travel to Michigan on June 16 to take on the Mayhem who they beat 54-0 in their first meeting.
